ON THE SEA OF CORTEZ

Mag-Elle

Danzante was mentioned in an article in the May 2007 issue of Elle Magazine. The article states: The landscape surrounding the Loreto Bay National Marine Park on the Southern end of Mexico's Baja Peninsula magically combines a spaghetti western's melancholy beauty with the delights of a tropical paradise. Absorb its otherworldly charms at the homey 10 acre Danzante Resort, where the cordon-cactus-studded desert rushes to meet the pristine Sea of Cortez. Comfy rooms lookout on the Sierra Gigante range in the front and the bay in the rear. You can scuba, kayak, swim or meet the migrating whales from a boat

Men's-Journal

Danzante was mentioned in an article in the February 2006 issue of "Men's Journal." The article named "How Green is your Eco-Lodge?" recommends Danzante in the section "Eight Eco-Lodges that Get it Right."

Conde-Mag

CONDE NAST TRAVELER, June 2005

Danzante included in Conde Nast search for the best of Baja!

For two weeks, I search for the best of Baja, old and new, driving an 1100 mile loop from the cruise ship port of Cabo San Lucas...ocassionally leaving Mexico’s Highway One to find out what lies at the end of a dirt track... Four hours north, we cross a mountain pass and turn off the dirt road to the Danzante ecolodge, nine solar-powered rooms on a rocky hill overlooking a crescent bay where the Sierra Giganta meets the Sea of Cortez. ...From the water’s edge, the lodge looks like a train curved over a tawny cat’s back, so naturally does it fit into the contours and colors of the landscape. Inside, azure-painted floors and cactus wood furniture echo the sea-meets-desert surroundings... DANZANTE offers scuba, snorkeling, kayaking, and horseback riding, and is ideally located for touring mission towns. Given the views, it is also tempting to just swing in your hammock.

Danzante received a “Best of the Best” Fodor’s Orange Star rating in the 2005 guide, denoting properties that the editors consider the very best in the area. Only 25 lodging facilities in all of Mexico were awarded this honor by Fodor's Editors.

“A respect for nature, captivating architecture and expert area advice from the owners are hallmarks.”

“This all-inclusive hilltop resort facing Isla Danzante is architecturally stunning and ecologically sensitive. Owners Michael & Lauren Farley are Baja experts, writers, and underwater photographers; they work closely with the local community. Guest rooms have bent-twig furnishings, wrought-iron bedsteads, patios and hammocks, and thoughtful items like binoculars and books. Phones and TVs are nonexistent, except for cellular phone access. There are plenty of activities to pursue, including hikes, kayaking and bird watching.” - Fodors

We’re also in the March 2004 issue of National Geographic Adventure Magazine

“Bahia de Loreto. At the all-inclusive Danzante Baja Resort, 25 miles south of Loreto, nine adobe suites line a knoll of volcanic rock overlooking an unspoiled bay. Each suite has a private bath and twin terraces-one facing the sea, and the other looking out over the mountains. The price includes kayaking, guided hikes into desert canyons, horseback riding and snorkeling in Bahia de Loreto National Park.”

Danzante was featured in the March/April issue of Coronado Lifestyles Magazine

.”.....Consisting of nine suites perched on a hill a stone's throw from the Sea of Cortez, Danzante was the culmination of years of soul searching for the Farleys. Originally professional scuba divers, the couple honeymooned in Baja in 1976 and returned to lead diving expeditions. They've published books too: Baja California Diver's Guide and Underwater Mexico.

Unlike high-volume destinations like Acapulco, Danzante lies within the boundaries of the Loreto National Park, a protected sanctuary for Baja sea life. Kayaking near the resort resulted in numerous close encounters with whales, dolphins, sea turtles, flying fish and marine birds.”
